INTRODUCTION - Guilford, CT - Gem of the Shoreline The GUILFORD, CT - Gem of the Shoreline project was a cooperative effort with the town of Guilford CT and Aldimar Video Productions to create a multi-use DVD exploring the many exciting facets of this historic East-coast town on Long Island Sound. Guilford is blessed with what is considered to be the best town Green on the shore line, five museums spanning 400 years of history and the largest collection of 18th and 19th century homes. From the harbor and town marina to hiking and birding trails in North Guilford, this town has a lot to offer for visitors, families and businesses. The DVD is comprised of four featurettes each with its special sub-menu: Visiting Guilford - focusing on the tourism aspect of the town. Living in Guilford - a residents view of the town, services, education, etc. Doing Business in Guilford - interviews with leading business owners. Bonus features showing the unique character of the town and the five museums. The DVD is available in Guilford, CT at several stores, the Chamber of Commerce and at the Visitors Center. And of course ... from this web site.
BACKGROUND - Vidiographer's notes This was our most ambitious project todate in completing a year's worth of events and interviews into an 80 minute DVD video. Actual video footage taken amounted to approximately 15 hours. We had a fantastic Steering Committee composed of various "stake-holders" in the town who assisted us in selecting those video elements that would best show all that Guilford has to offer. From the beginning it had been decided to tell the story of Guilford in images and music, and add commentary only where we judged it was necessary to communicate the message in the particular video clip. Most people were interviewed without a "prepared" script so as to capture the reality and honesty of the interviewee. One of the great parts of this project was in meeting so many interesting people and gaining access to video places and events that most people whould not have had the opportunity. All in all, while the project was incredibly demanding for most of a year, it was a fun and enjoyable experience. The business owners, event coordinators and various organizations were very supportive and helped move the video towards its completion. My only regret is that with all the restaurant scenes we shot, we didn't get a chance to eat any of the food. |
